Meet Julie-Ann, our founder

Blend did not start in a lab. It started in a kitchen, with a coach who was tired of watching good intentions collapse against real life.

If it does not taste like the real thing, it will not last.

A coach, and a familiar wall

Julie-Ann Ouellet spent years as a fitness coach and nutrition specialist. Her clients did not lack willpower; they lacked a system that survived a busy week. Protein sat in tubs they forgot to use. Fibre barely featured at all. The plans worked on paper and fell apart by Wednesday.

She kept arriving at the same conclusion: nutrition that lives outside your cooking asks too much of you. To last, it has to be built into the food you already make.

The cookie that started it

The turning point was, of all things, a cookie. Thick, brown-buttered, genuinely good — the kind you bake for people you like. It also happened to carry roughly twice the protein and fibre of a standard one, because she had reworked the flour underneath it.

Nobody could tell. That was the whole revelation. If an indulgence could quietly do more, so could bread, pasta and pancakes — every staple built on flour.

From kitchen to mill

Blend grew out of that idea: take the ingredient people use most, raise its protein and fibre, and keep it behaving — and tasting — exactly like the real thing. Milled in small batches, proven by baking, and held to one stubborn standard.

That standard is still the rule today: if it does not taste like the real thing, it will not last. It is why Blend is a flour first, and a nutrition product second.
